Breakouts happen when the pores in our skin become clogged with dirt, grime and other impurities. These clogged pores become inflamed which then cause acne to appear. To some, this might just be a minor inconvenience but to most of us, it can affect how we feel and how we deal with other people. In short, it can negatively affect our confidence.

Blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and cysts are all types of acne. In the United States alone, it affects up to 50 million Americans on a yearly basis. To us, clear skin means healthy skin. That is why we take extra effort in taking care of it. We use all of these products just to keep it hydrated and clean to prevent or at least minimize breakouts. What we fail to realize is that our diet also plays a factor on the health and condition of our skin. All these skin-enhancing products would work better if we just make small adjustments in our diet. Today, let’s do our part and check which food can help in clearing up our skin.

Salmon And Other Fatty Fish

Fatty fishes like the salmon, herring and mackerel are great in keeping your skin healthy. They are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids which keep our skin moisturized, thick and supple. It can also reduce inflammation which causes acne. Vitamin E is also another essential vitamin that you can get from fatty fish. Not only is vitamin E an antioxidant but it also protects your skin from free radicals.

Avocados

My personal favorite. Delicious, creamy and healthy for the skin. Rich in healthy fats, avocados keep our skin moisturized and elastic. It also protects our skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays keeping it moist and free of wrinkles. Just like the others on this list, it is also a rich source of antioxidants. Did I mention that it is delicious?
