Is Gold Good for Skincare?

Skincare routine has always been an unending trial and error of which products work for you and which products that don’t. It could cost you a lot of money and fortunately, there’s often little skin risk involved.

In Korean skincare, 24K gold masks are believed to be an anti-oxidant and have anti-inflammatory properties. Gold on skincare products are known to calm acne and reduce redness, and it protects against free radicals that lead to skin wrinkles.

Science, however, has mixed reviews on the effectiveness of gold in skincare. One study found the benefits of gold nanoparticles when combined with collagen and hyaluronic acid. While one study suggests that gold nanoparticles actually accelerate the aging process, and also slowing down the body’s natural wound healing process.

With that in mind, you should definitely pay close attention to the combination of skincare products that have positive results for you. Some brands or ingredients might be effective to you but not to others. And as much as possible, choose the brand that are made of natural ingredients to avoid harmful effects from chemicals.
